Shona works with adults, couples, and adolescents to help with anxiety, mood, emotions, relationship issues, career, parenting, grief and loss, and illness. She supports adolescents navigating and adjusting to school and adulthood, particularly with social and emotional issues, social anxiety, bullying, dyslexia and OCD. Whether you, or a family member, are currently facing a crisis or are feeling stuck, Shona can help you to navigate a path forward to better understanding and functioning.
Shona adheres to the humanistic tradition where a warm non-judgmental and supportive therapeutic relationship is primary, and she draws on a variety of treatment models including ACT, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Shona has been in Hong Kong for 35+ years and is married with two adult chidlren. She has worked as an EFL teacher for The British Council and the Hong Kong NET scheme, as a lecturer for Shue Yan College and for the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as a business journalist, and has worked one-to-one in communication skills and workshops with MOHG, PWC, Morgan Stanley, and Reuters. Shona studied for her BSc in Psychology and MSc in Counselling, and has worked as a counsellor both as an independent practitioner with Highgate Kindergarden and with Mindwise Psychology, before joining Psynamo.
