About Iola:
Educational Consultant & Counsellor
Iola holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and has always been interested in the human mind and behaviours. Following a person-centred approach, she believes that the client is the expert on their own lives, and that counselling is a dialogue between the counsellor and client to discover what the client needs and the resources that they have. She offers an open and non-judgemental space to hold each individual’s story and works to empower them in making choices that serve their best interest.
Having grown up in Hong Kong and Canada, Iola is familiar with diverse backgrounds and cultures, and what it means to feel different. She has spent her career working with children with individual needs and in the service industry, which has helped develop her patience and flexibility in providing support. She draws from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and positive psychology in her therapeutic approach.
Iola consults in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
