Having grown up in Hong Kong, Bharati is a native English-speaker with a multi-cultural background and who understands the unique challenges of growing up, living and working in Hong Kong.
Bharati is an enthusiatic, caring, trustworthy and empathic placement counsellor with a keen interest to support individuals with life, work, relationship, family and emotional issues. She has experience in working with clients through issues such as anxiety, low-mood, self-esteem, feeling stuck and assisting through life transitions while supporting self-reliance and personal growth. She supports clients in achieving this by providing a safe and confidential space in which to explore concerns.
Prior to her placement with the Psynamo Group, Bharati worked as an Employee Assiatance Programme (EAP) placement counsellor with clients from various corporate backgrounds on their personal and work-related issues. Bharati has also been trained in Mindfulness and has developed and run workshops for 'Basics in Mindfulness'. She also holds a 'Mental Health First Aid' certification.
While working with clients, Bharati draws from a broad range of approaches such as Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and tailors her approach as per the client's individual needs. She works collaboratively with clients and provides strengths-based skills training to improve their resilience, empathy, coping strategies, problem-solving, communication skills, self-awareness, asssertiveness, personal empowerment and growth, along with overall well-being and encouraging clients to live a values-driven life.
Bharati comes with 11 years of experience working in the human resources and recruitment field with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. After 10 years in the corporate world, she moved to Melbourne to pursue training in Psychology and Counselling.
Bharati additionally provides careers developmemt services and works with clients in a range of activities such as developing resumes, savvy cover letters, mock interview sessions, and more.
Her strengths are her listening skills, passion for her work, zest for life and her knowledge of evidence-based counselling theory.
Bharati works with adolescent and adult clients and provides services in English.
